Lorna Wing, passed away a few days ago. In 1981, she published “Asperger’s Syndrome: a Clinical Account,” bringing to light the work of Hans Asperger in the English speaking world. Words fail me, it is a damp, soggy and sensorially challenging day, but I wanted to post a tribute to remember her, with gratitude for the work she began and left as a legacy. Autism studies have evolved since, and I am sure she would not mind that some new trajectories are slowly changing the complexions and landscapes, and even replacing some of her contributions to the field. I, for one, am thankful to her for opening up to us a door, a beginning, which will continue to grow and develop.
R.I.P. Lorna Wing, and thank you!
