If you’re not already familiar with his work, do check out Oliver Sacks today! Here is his blog: Oliver Sacks M.D, author, neurologist.
One of my all time favourite authors and speakers, Oliver Sacks, celebrated his 80th birthday recently. This man is brilliant in his flair for narrative, and ever so lovely in his delivery – his voice sounds always gentle, his words well articulated, and he comes across as a humorous but humble man. Sacks brought back the storytelling element to medical science, the human touch, which was all but wiped away by the DSM approach and the movement towards de-humanising medicine. I do remember the wonderful and fascinating stories my father and his doctor friends used to tell. Case histories make such great narratives. Thank you, Dr. Sacks, for inspiring so many of us!
